Sharon Township Welcomes New Firefighters
In a recent meeting on November 25, 2025, the Sharon Township Board of Trustees took a significant step towards enhancing local safety by approving the hiring of two new firefighters. Jayce Dippel, who has garnered experience working with both the Barberton Fire Department and as a part-time member of the Uniontown Fire Department, has been hired as a firefighter II paramedic. His reputation precedes him, as Fire Chief Mike Stanec noted receiving an enthusiastic recommendation from a colleague at Barberton.
Similarly, Ethan Foltz joins the department as a firefighter II EMT after successfully completing the Fire Safety/EMT program through the Four Cities Compact vocational program. With these new hires, the Sharon Fire Department's personnel count now stands at 42 members, a move that aims to bolster community emergency response capabilities.
Current Emergency Response Stats
During the meeting, Chief Stanec also shared an update regarding the department's performance in November. To date, the team has responded to a total of 59 calls: 4 related to fires, 38 for emergency medical services (EMS), and 17 categorized as “other.” Notably, there have been 11 instances of mutual aid provided to neighboring departments and 4 calls for assistance received in return, demonstrating the community's commitment to collaborative emergency support.
Community Involvement and More Hires
In addition to the fire department updates, Fiscal Officer Christine Lawson reported that the deadline for residents interested in joining the Zoning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals has been extended to December 15. Residents may submit their letters of interest via email. Moreover, the township is also looking to fill a part-time zoning inspector position, highlighting ongoing opportunities for community involvement.
Upcoming Meetings and Planning
The Sharon Township Board of Trustees will conduct their next meeting on December 9 at 7 p.m. in the Sharon Township Administration Building, located at 1322 Sharon Copley Road. Residents are encouraged to attend to stay informed on local issues and developments.
