Rediscovering Faith Through Adventure
The recent Stake Young Men and Young Women High Adventure event, held in the breathtaking Hocking Hills State Park, was more than just a weekend getaway. With the guiding phrase from Moroni to “Seek this Jesus of whom the prophets and apostles have written,” the youth engaged in a journey of both physical exploration and spiritual discovery. For the first time in years, 40 young souls, accompanied by eight leaders, set out to strengthen their faith while immersed in nature.
Creating Lasting Connections
The gathering kicked off on a Thursday afternoon and culminated on Saturday. The excitement reached its peak during a six-mile hike on Friday. The participants visited scenic landmarks such as Old Man’s Cave, Whispering Cave, Cedar Falls, and Ash Cave, integrating spiritual messages at each notable stop. These teachings emphasized the significance of prioritizing Christ in their lives and recognizing the fortitude derived from a relationship with Him.
Fun and Spirituality Blend Together
After an exhausting hike, youth participants were treated to a refreshing water fight, followed by leisure time at Lake Logan. The experience wasn’t just limited to fitness; a fireside devotional further deepened their spiritual journey as they gathered to share messages related to seeking the Savior while enjoying s’mores under the stars.
Challenging Fears and Building Courage
Saturday’s highlight was a rappelling excursion near Conkles Hollow, where each participant had hands-on opportunities to face their fears by rappelling down heights of up to 120 feet. This thrill not only tested their limits but also nurtured a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie.
Spiritual Growth Beyond the Forest
The experiences shared during this high adventure will linger in the hearts and minds of the youth, fostering both spiritual and social bonds among participants. As they learned about Christ’s teachings, the event served as a reminder of the importance of spiritual habits, encouraging attendees to cultivate their faith through scripture study and fellowship.
Ultimately, the essence of this high adventure was about seeking Jesus and recognizing His presence in our lives through every challenge and joy, connecting both faith and fun in unforgettable ways.
