Coventry Local Schools Board Takes Steps Forward
The Coventry Board of Education recently held a meeting on May 28 where they approved several significant administrative contracts aimed at enhancing leadership within the school district. Among those receiving new contracts are Kelly Kendrick as the director of operations and Melissa Dort as the director of pupil services, both of whom will be key figures in pushing the district forward.
Recognizing Excellence Among Students
During the meeting, Coventry Middle School principal Tina Norris took the time to honor middle school students Ava King and Owen Eder for their achievements recognized by the Ohio Middle Level Association (OMLA). Their participation in the Breakfast of Champions event underscores the school’s commitment to fostering scholarship, character, service, and leadership in its students.
Strategic Planning for Future Growth
As part of their strategic planning, the board also reviewed an updated five-year forecast, approved various contracts including technology support for Fiscal Year 2026, and finalized the academic calendar for the 2025-26 school year. Notably, the school hours will be adjusted across the district to streamline operations, starting at 7:30 a.m. at Coventry High School and 8:55 a.m. at Coventry Elementary School.
Meeting Updates and Future Outlook
The Coventry Local Schools Board will reconvene on June 18 at 6 p.m. in the media center of Coventry High School to continue their discussions, which promise to further shape the educational landscape in Akron. As they implement these changes and recognize student achievements, the community can expect continued progress in education.
