University of Akron Welcomes Back Dr. Daugherty as Dean
The University of Akron (UA) is set to embark on a new chapter as it welcomes back Dr. Terry Daugherty as the new dean of the College of Business, effective January 3, 2026. Dr. Daugherty, who previously served from 2009 to 2020, is expected to bring a revitalized vision and leadership approach that aligns with UA's commitment to excellence.

Dr. Gwyneth Price, UA’s senior vice president and provost, expressed enthusiasm for Daugherty's return, highlighting how his earlier contributions greatly benefited the university. She believes his leadership will enhance not just the College of Business but the institution as a whole.
Daugherty emphasizes a student-centered approach to business education that connects the classroom with industry practices. He plans to enhance student outcomes, focusing on retention and graduation rates while fostering strong faculty and community relationships. Strong Leadership from Experience
Before returning, Dr. Daugherty served as the dean of the Scott College of Business at Indiana State University, where he was recognized for his efforts in academic leadership. His rich background includes various roles at UA, including associate dean and academic director of the Suarez Applied Marketing Research Lab, affirming his comprehensive understanding of academic operations.
The UA College of Business holds a distinguished reputation, accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), placing it among the top 1% of business schools globally with dual accreditation in business and accounting. This excellence is further recognized by notable rankings from Poets & Quants and U.S. News.
