The Coveted Coventry Clock Tower: A New Roof for an Iconic Landmark
The Coventry Clock Tower, a historic symbol nestled in the heart of Portage Lakes, recently underwent a transformation with the installation of a brand-new roof on September 3. The original roof, devotedly maintained for many years, had seen better days, succumbing to the wear and tear of time. According to Coventry Trustee Edward Diebold, the situation reached a tipping point where patchwork solutions were no longer sufficient, and a replacement became imperative.
In collaboration with Walnut Creek Metals, the township commissioned a new standing seam metal roof in a rich copper color that beautifully complements the architecture of the newly constructed Logan Field House nearby. This upgrade is more than just an aesthetic enhancement; it symbolizes a commitment to preserving the township’s cultural heritage.
A Community Investment
The total project cost was $9,288, with a commendable contribution of 40% funded by the Portage Lakes Ducks organization. This financial partnership highlights the community's collective effort to maintain the clock tower, ensuring it remains a centerpiece for township events and celebrations.
